Approve your website for launch
Launch approval should confirm that the agreed website is suitable to publish, not simply that its colours look right. Use a short checklist covering business accuracy, the main customer journey and any accounts affected by publication. Keep unresolved items visible rather than assuming they are complete.
Before you start
- The latest website version, your agreed scope and the intended public domain.
- The person authorised to approve business content and publication.
- A list of any outstanding tests, access requests or provider dependencies.
What to do
Sign off the business information
Check your trading details, services, prices, hours and contact information. Read your own policies and claims rather than treating website wording as professional legal advice. Make sure required business details and any content needing specialist review are settled before publication.
Check the customer route
Follow the important navigation and contact links on a phone and larger screen where possible. For included form work, agree a labelled test and identify who can confirm receipt. A confirmation message on the page is not by itself proof of delivery.
Confirm content and account dependencies
Approve the images and text you have permission to publish. If hosting or DNS will change, identify the relevant account owner and any linked email services. Leave old subscriptions in place until the actual transition and its consequences have been agreed.
Give a clear approval with exceptions
Confirm approval through the agreed communication route and identify any expressly agreed follow-up. If an essential item remains unresolved, say so. Avoid an ambiguous looks good message when you still expect changes before the site becomes public.
What to check
- You approve the specific version and public address, not an old screenshot.
- Important content and permissions have been checked by the responsible person.
- Outstanding dependencies are either resolved or explicitly agreed before release.
