Check your website after launch

After publication, check the real public website rather than relying only on a preview or screenshot. Concentrate on the customer journeys and changes included in your project. A brief record of the checks makes it easier to identify a remaining issue and agree what happens next.

Before you start

  • The intended public website address and confirmation that publication has taken place.
  • Your launch checklist, approved contact details and any agreed follow-up items.
  • Access to the receiving inbox owner if an authorised form-delivery test is included.

What to do

  1. Open the public address

Visit the domain customers will use, including the important pages rather than only the homepage. Compare the result with the approved work. If you see unexpected content, record the exact address, time and device before changing settings or assuming that publication failed.

  2. Follow the important links

Check navigation, call and email buttons, menu downloads and existing booking destinations relevant to your scope. Look at a phone as well as a larger screen where possible. Do not create real bookings or payments simply to see whether a button works.

  3. Complete agreed delivery checks

Where form repair is included, use the owner-authorised test and confirm receipt with the intended inbox owner. Keep the distinction between a displayed success message and a delivered message. Record which checks passed and what still needs confirmation.

  4. Record follow-up and ownership

Send any problem through support with the page and reproduction steps. Keep the handover and account inventory for your business. A one-off job does not add ongoing management; managed customers can use their agreed support route and allowance for later work.

What to check

  • The intended public pages display the approved version and business facts.
  • Purchased changes and relevant customer contact routes have been checked.
  • Remaining issues have a clear description rather than several conflicting repair attempts.
