Wix Save, Preview and Publish are different steps

In Wix Editor, saving keeps your editing work, preview shows how that version looks, and publishing makes editor changes available on the live site. These are different actions. A saved correction in your editor is not evidence that customers can see it at your business address.

Useful context

  • Confirm that you are editing the intended Wix site, not an old duplicate.
  • Keep the approved replacement content beside you.
  • Check whether another collaborator has unpublished work in the same site.

How it works

  1. Make and save a contained change

Update the intended text, image or link using the existing controls. Check the saving state before closing the editor. If a save error appears, preserve your replacement wording separately and investigate it rather than assuming the browser has kept everything.

  2. Inspect the preview

Use Preview to review the changed page and relevant mobile layout. Follow ordinary links and check the surrounding content. Stop before any action that would submit a message, create an appointment or take payment unless you have arranged a clearly labelled test.

  3. Publish the version you intend

Before publishing, confirm that the whole saved site state is ready, not merely your own last paragraph. Other unpublished editor changes may be present. Agree timing with collaborators so a price correction does not accidentally release somebody else’s unfinished page.

  4. Open the real public address

After publication, open the normal website address in a separate signed-out browser view. Check the exact correction and important nearby links. Tell customers about the update only after verifying this public version, rather than sending them an editor or preview address.

What to check

  • Saving completed without an unresolved error.
  • The intended change is visible on the public site.
  • Other collaborators’ unfinished work was not accidentally released.
