Share WordPress access without sharing passwords

A separate named account is the sensible starting point for WordPress work. An Editor can normally manage page content, while an Administrator has much broader control. The right permission depends on the job and any page-builder restrictions. First establish whether WordPress.com hosts your website or whether another company hosts the WordPress software.

Before you start

  • Have your website address, the purchased task and your own working owner sign-in ready.
  • Find the company that bills for hosting; a WordPress logo alone does not identify it.
  • Check that you are authorised to invite somebody to this website.

What to do

  1. Identify the account you need

WordPress.com is a hosted service. Self-hosted WordPress runs with a separate hosting company. The website editor, hosting panel and domain account can be different systems; a text change does not automatically require all three.

  2. Match the role to the task

For supplied text and image changes, discuss Editor access first. Installing software or changing technical settings may need a different role. Ask what specific permission is missing before granting Administrator access just to make an error disappear.

  3. Create the named invitation

Use your platform’s user-management controls to invite info@presgro.com with the agreed role. WordPress.com and individual hosting dashboards have different invitation processes. Keep your own account and follow the appropriate provider guide rather than emailing a password.

  4. Confirm and close access deliberately

Include the site and invitation details in the protected brief. PresGro can confirm whether the relevant page is editable. After accepting a one-off job, remove temporary access carefully; do not delete or reassign published content unintentionally.

What to check

  • The invitation belongs to the correct website, not a different client or test site.
  • Your owner access, hosting billing and domain registration remain under your control.
  • Any additional permission request has a clear reason tied to the purchased work.
