SEO explained: a small-business learning path
SEO means helping people and search engines understand your website. Start with a useful answer for a real customer, then make sure that answer can be found. You do not need hundreds of near-identical pages or a list of technical tricks.
By the end, you should be able to check a page’s search eligibility, improve its presentation and choose one sensible next action from Search Console.
Understand the moving parts
A page being online, being indexed and ranking for a search are different things. Learn the distinction before deciding that a missing result needs a redesign.
Make one page genuinely useful
Pick a service you actually provide. Explain who it is for, what is included and how to take the next step. Use headings and links to make those answers easy to find; do not repeat a keyword in every sentence.
Check whether Google can find it
Use the verified property for your own site. Look at the preferred URL and the reason for any indexing exclusion. Keep private checkout, account and customer pages private; an exclusion is not automatically a fault.
Read the result before changing more
Compare like-for-like periods and the same page or search query. A page with impressions but few clicks needs a different investigation from one that receives clicks but no useful enquiries.
