Turn customer questions into useful website content
A good content opportunity starts with a question you can answer accurately for the people you serve. Customer conversations and relevant search information can help find it. The next decision is whether the answer belongs on an existing page or deserves a distinct page of its own.
Before you start
- Collect recurring questions without copying customer names, private messages or other personal details into your content plan.
- Keep your actual service boundaries and existing page list beside the ideas.
What to do
Group questions by the job people need to do
A café visitor might need to check the menu, understand private hire or find step-free access information. These are different tasks; several ways of asking for opening hours are usually one task. Group by meaning rather than treating every phrase as a separate new page.
Look for evidence, not just an appealing title
Check whether the question appears in real enquiries, relevant search data or an obvious gap in your website. A topic can still be useful before there is much data, but write down the reason. Avoid claiming that a guessed phrase has proven demand.
Choose the right home for the answer
Add a short answer to the relevant service page when that completes the customer’s task. Create a separate guide when the subject needs a substantial explanation with its own examples or checks. Link the two naturally so customers can move between learning and choosing.
Supply a useful answer and keep it true
Use your approved facts, practical examples and relevant primary references where needed. Explain what the reader can do next, including a free next step where appropriate. Record who will review changing details such as menus, platform controls or the limits of a paid service.
What to check
- The topic fits a real audience and something you can explain responsibly.
- It does not duplicate an existing answer with slightly different wording.
- The page has a useful next step and an owner for future corrections.
