Choose where a Squarespace form sends enquiries

A Squarespace form needs a configured storage destination to handle submissions. Available choices depend on the form type and can include an email address, connected spreadsheet or Squarespace contact features. The visible thank-you message does not prove the business received the enquiry. Check the destination and its permissions, not just the form’s appearance.

Before you start

  • Identify the exact form and who is responsible for replying.
  • Confirm access to the intended receiving inbox or storage account.
  • Agree a clearly labelled test using non-sensitive information.

What to do

  1. Inspect the current connection

Open the form’s storage controls and note the configured destination without changing it yet. An email address may belong to the person who originally created the form rather than the current business contact. Check every enquiry form separately, including copies on landing pages.

  2. Choose the simplest monitored route

For a small enquiry form, a business-managed inbox may be easier to maintain than several connected systems. If you also use a spreadsheet, document who checks it and restrict access. Extra storage copies create extra responsibilities; they should have a clear purpose rather than being enabled automatically.

  3. Review what will leave the website

Look at each field and remove information that the enquiry does not need. A connection to an external service sends data outside the website itself. Make sure the destination is approved and the site’s privacy information describes the actual collection process before inviting real customers to use it.

  4. Verify one authorised test

Submit the agreed labelled test from the public form, then confirm that its contents reach each intended destination. Check the reply address, not only receipt. Record the time and result. If delivery fails, stop repeating submissions and inspect the storage connection, inbox filtering and provider restrictions.

What to check

  • A responsible person monitors the configured destination.
  • The labelled test arrived with complete, readable field values.
  • Connected storage is limited to approved accounts and necessary information.
