Check Google Analytics using Realtime
Realtime can help you see whether recent website activity is reaching the intended Analytics property. It is a useful first check, not proof that every event, consent state or purchase is correct. Use your own authorised test visit and keep the test small enough to understand.
Before you start
- Confirm the correct property and web-stream measurement ID.
- Agree whether to test a separate test property or make a recorded visit to your own live site.
What to do
Open the right reports and website
In Analytics, open the Realtime report for the expected property. In another window, visit your actual public website. Do not confuse a development preview with production, and check that the site’s configuration is intended to send to that property before adding any new tag.
Make one clear consented journey
If the site asks for optional analytics consent, use its normal controls for the approved test. Open two identifiable public pages and note the time. Do not place an order or submit customer details simply to generate a visible event in the dashboard.
Look for relevant evidence
Inspect recent page titles or events, not only the total active-user card. Other visitors may be present, and attribution information can be limited in Realtime. A matching page at the expected time is useful evidence, but it does not establish every detail of the implementation.
Investigate a missing result calmly
Check the property, measurement ID, consent state and environment before assuming no one visits the site. A developer can inspect tag loading and network behaviour with permission. Do not paste a second tag as a quick fix; that can create duplicate collection when both begin working.
What to check
- The evidence comes from the intended property and public environment.
- Test time and page names are recorded without personal information.
- No real booking, payment or customer submission was created accidentally.
